Established as a souvenir shop in front of the Amanohashidate cable car station in 1918. The restaurant still has old-fashioned signage outside the store, but don’t let that fool you. Matsui Bussan is a restaurant full of hospitality that serves various innovative dishes. For example, one of the dishes at the restaurant is bouillabaisse ramen, which was actually thought up by local high schoolers in a contest to come up with creative cuisine that could be potentially used in restaurants in the area. The dish won the second prize at "Umaimon Koshien". Our restaurant uses dashi stock made from fish and noodles that are made in Kyoto by a noodle shop called Teigaku. The chef and staff work together to constantly update the menu and create new dishes. In addition, the restaurant’s interior, lined with souvenirs, has undergone a major renewal. Now there is a landscape photo gallery of the Tango region and an open cafe where you can enjoy our salted kintsuba sweets (sweetened beans wrapped in wheat-flour dough) and matcha tea set.
We offer dishes with a local touch and a little ingenuity for the enjoyment of our customers. In the winter, we have dishes using crab unique to Tango. Try the koppe crab bouillabaisse ramen that finishes up with a cheese rice porridge. Our yellowtail rice bowl is made with two different types of fillets, giving it a deeper flavor and texture. The sardine rice bowl and conger ell rice bowl are popular in the summer. We also recommend the kintsuba (confection of sweetened beans wrapped in wheat-flour dough) made with salt from Kotobikihama and black beans from Tamba’s Sasayama.
