Tsuruya Shokudo is a Japanese restaurant on a stone-path street that connects Motoise Kono Shrine and the cable car lift to Kasamatsu Park. It is an excellent location for a place to stop and even, made even better by the fact that there are a number of specialties at this establishment. The restaurant serves local seafood and other locally sourced ingredients that change with the seasons. The rice bowls with toppings that vary from egg to seafood to nori (seaweed) are a staple at Tsuruya, as are the red udon and purple soba.

Chatsubo Yoshida
Located in downtown Ayabe, within walking distance of Ayabe train station, Gunze Square and Rose Garden, and Shorekiji Temple, this restaurant is both convenient and a great place to eat. The location is a former tea house with a decor that displays an array of tea antiques.
The restaurant is primarily open for lunch (11am - 5pm) and has a filling, multi-plate meal using a variety of local ingredients. The dessert and matcha are also worth ordering, as they make the matcha right in front of you. There is also the option to make matcha yourself with their guidance. There is a main dining room, a side dining room which is more private, a tatami room, as well as a room in the back with a table set for four.
