Torizo
Rock-n-Roll meets delicate duck and chicken dishes
Musician posters, record jackets, and motorcycle photos are all over the walls of Torizo. You’ll hear a welcoming voice from the back of the restaurant, like being in an old music shop! "Torizou" is an izakaya with a different style of fowl dishes. The owner, Mitsutaka Kondo, trained at the famous fowl restaurant [Torinako] in Fukuchiyama and opened his own restaurant in 2013. It inhereted its flavor and style from [Torinako], like the "kamo-suki" menu signage, but it has a style all its own as well. There are flavorful and elegant dishes using Kyoto-style dashi stock that is full of flavor, with duck meat and green onions. Kondo-san loves the soul of rock-n-roll and the exquisite harmony of delicately cooked food. It's been crowded with regulars every night since it opened. This is a famous restaurant that you should definitely visit when you come to Fukuchiyama.
I am from Fukuchiyama. I left the area for a while, but when I returned home I decided to train at [Torinako], and then to become independent because I wanted to make duck sukiyaki, a specialty of Fukuchiyama. Rock-n-roll and Harley memorabilia fill the restaurant as rock music plays in the background. I love meeting people who share the same passions as I do, but I think that even those who do not have the same tastes will enjoy it here. After all, the most important thing is the connection between people. Through music, cooking, and drinking, I really want to create a place where customers can commingle and have fun talking with each other.
