Chabu Dining (ichiju issai no yado)
Farmstay located in Ayabe, about a 20 minute car or bus ride from Ayabe Station (65 minutes from Kyoto City). Run by an English speaking couple who created this farmstay experience around the phrase “ichiju issai,” which is a phrase that means a simple, one-plate meal. Their intention is to showcase the amazing produce and ingredients of the region in simple dishes that don’t rely on additives. Nature provides, and to stay at this farmhouse is to be in harmony with nature. Ayabe has a lot to offer and so do the people that live here. Learn to cook like the rural people here, experience fermented foods and natural produce. Your time here will be slow and relaxing, filled with clean mountain air and pleasant conversation. There are other experiences in the village that include cooking with locals in a traditional Japanese wood-fired cooking stove.
