Day 3: Maizuru Walking Tour

Take a walk through Japanese history. Maizuru has been a central part of Japanese history throughout the ages. Thousands of years ago, people first took dug out canoes to the region. In the 1500’s, the castle town here was a central deciding factor in the battle for modern Japan. Maizuru was also one of Japan’s four historic naval bases in the early 1900’s, and even more recently the birthplace of Japan’s modern fishing industry.
