Tabel Table

Breakfast & brunch cafe. Tango ingredients, Irish-style cooking.

When you enter this old folk-house that blends into the peaceful rural landscape, the first thing you’ll notice is the interior, reminiscent of a European B&B. The restaurant is a kitchen studio designed by Junko Hamilton who lived in Ireland for a number of years with her Irish husband. Up until now, events, workshops, and cooking classes have been held here, but it opened at the end of June (2020) as a cafe. It is attached to a guesthouse that will be opening in the fall of 2020. The Tango area’s excellent ingredients blend perfectly with simple Irish home cooking and desserts. The atmosphere is welcoming and you will feel as though you’ve been invited someone’s home. This is one of the reasons that Tabel Table is frequented not only by locals, but travelers from around the world. Another reason would be that, Junko who is well-versed in Japanese fermentation culture, holds miso-making workshops during the winter. It’s an incredible experience.

from the chef:

Since I was an elementary school student I loved cooking. So I attended cooking classes, bought some books by myself, and taught myself. When I was living in Ireland, I studied Japanese food culture in order to teach local people how to make miso. The Tango region, specifically Kyotango, is where my grandmother’s house is and I’ve always wanted to live here. The ingredients here are so rich and natural. They really are second to none. I am hoping to share Tango’s food culture with people from all over, while infusing a little Irish culture into the cuisine.
