Yuhigaura, the land of eternal sunsets
Yuhigaura (part of the town of Amino in Kyotango City) is known for its beautiful and vibrant sunsets, so much so that it’s in the name (the Japanese characters meaning sunset inlet). At sunset, the golden reflection of the sun turns the sea into a mirror, drenching the entire seashore in an orange glow. There is a sunset path for walking that is slightly raised above the beach and lined with benches. Relax, take creative pictures, and stroll along the beach and take a turn on the driftwood swing.
E-bike rentals are a great way to explore the seaside.
Yuhigaura is located along the San’in Kaigan UNESCO Global Geopark, and the volcanic landscape means the area has natural hot springs. There is an abundance of accommodations in the Yuhigaura area that have spectacular views of the sunset, access to beautiful swimming beaches, activities like beach yoga and stand-up paddle boarding, as well as hot springs and locally sourced seafood cuisine.
